First Quarter, Front Row, AI-generated You or Real You?

We have completed the first quarter of IS101-3003, Fall 2023!

Wayne and Valeria showed up to the classroom early and took on Bonus Quiz 4. After reviewing the answers and rationale for BQ4, I gave the first half of my second presentation: Job Hunting and Fulfillment while leaving the second half A3 Tailored Cover and Resume as optional for my students to explore on their own.

I used the majority of the classroom time to help students clean-up their earlier assignments, threaded discussions, and LabSim tasks. Looking to the week ahead, I hope to inspire my real-life students with examples of A4 Homepage, Website, Online Publishing from five fictitious students showcasing their individuality, creativity, and accomplishments in IS101 (e.g. assignments and certifications):

Albert Einstein

Marie Curie

Benjamin Franklin

Florence Nightingale

Elvis Presley

  • What will you leave behind after you complete IS101-3003?
  • How will you show people what you have accomplished in IS101-3003?
  • What distinguishes you from other people who have completed IS101 or a comparable course?
  • What makes you stand out amongst other holders of the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Word and Excel certifications?
  • What separates you from other past, present, and future students of Albert Wu?

For the remaining three quarters, I hope seeds of creativity, ambition, and performance will inspire my real-life students to create a digital portfolio via A4.

Anisley (Ani), ManassiyaWayne are at the front of the IS101-3003 coursework progress curve. Two of the three always sat in the very front row in the classroom. Both accepted my request to be the first to present their A5 Slideshow Presentation next Saturday, I am so proud them :-)

Continuing from my previous two blog posts on artificial intelligence and facial recognition, please watch this 7 min 33 sec video:

  1. +I’ve never considered leaving anything behind after finishing IS101-3003 but my curiosity is starting to push me to see what I could possibly do.
+My blog will be updated weekly along with the certifications I achieve. I get to display them on my resumes and LinkedIn profile.
+What distinguishes me from other people who have completed IS101 is my prior work/design experience. I’m highly familiar with the workings of corporate America and dabbled in Graphic Design. Combining these two experiences should give me a unique perspective whenever creating a document.
+The things that make me stand out amongst other holders of the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Word and Excel certifications is my attention to detail. With my interest in Graphic Design, I’m sure the layouts I use in these programs will be unique and easy-to-read, which I feel are the most important aspects of a presentation.
+What separates me from past, present, and future students of Albert Wu is my competitiveness and willing to learn. I don’t get flustered easily so that helps when the many assignments provided start to stack up.

This video shows how far we are coming along in Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. It also makes me more comfortable in my degree choice of Cyber Security. With technologies such as AI advancing, Cybercriminals have more ways to try to gain personal information from businesses and individuals alike. It makes me nervous, but also makes me want to learn more to prevent myself from being a cyber victim.

  2. 1 - After completing the coursework I will leave behind the blog I created, which is exciting.
2 - I will be able to hopefully give awesome presentations after learning how to properly use PowerPoint.
3 - My ultimate goal is to graduate with a Bachelor's degree. CSN is an institution where normally graduates complete an Associate's degree. Since I'm pursuing a Bachelor's degree that distinguishes me from some of my peers.
4 - I consider myself a goal-driven person, and being close to obtaining my degree I think provides me with an extra boost to complete the coursework and keep pushing myself.
5 - Maybe my background is somewhat different than other students. I'm focused and I know what I want and how to get it. Hard work is the only way and I'm willing to put in the work.

The video was interesting. I can't believe we can now create our own avatars that can act and sound like us! Born and raised in an analog world I'm still amused at every discovery and how fast technology is moving. I think is exciting to see but also frightening. Reality can be bent and it will all come down to how we use this technology and in which way we want to bend reality... I hope is in a good way for everyone's sake.

  3. 1.) What I'd be leaving behind would be my blogs and anything else that I created in this class including all the comments I've made on my classmates' blogs.
2.) I will be showing people what I've learned in IS101 by my ability to navigate through Microsoft's programs.
3.) I'm sure different courses are taught differently therefore everyone will come out of those courses differently. My passion for my work will differentiate me from others.
4.) Different qualifications have different requirements. I might have some similar skills with them but will never truly be the same. Even if it's the same course, what I've learned will be different from others.
5.) People from different time experiences different things. Even if it's just one year difference. I will have the most updated certifications and knowledge (for now).

I thought the video was interesting. We've all been curious what it would be like if there could just be another one of us so we could maybe sleep in a bit more or just take the day off altogether. Even with the accuracy of AI generated voice, it's still very obvious that it's AI due to the lack of emotions. Thankfully AI hasn't been able to capture to true essence of humanly emotions, and that is the difference between an AI and a human.

  4. * From the start of this class, I've never seen myself leaving anything behind. I feel that a lot of the skills I've learned in this class already can be of use to important things in my life. These important daily tasks include school and work.
    * After completing this class, I plan on presenting my skills in the workplace. I feel that I can create some really great presentations for my new job and create some spreadsheets in Excel that can show our monthly numbers more efficiently.
    * What distinguishes me from other people who have taken IS101 will be that I will be using a lot of Excel spreadsheets at my new Cox Communications job. My retail sales position requires employees to create spreadsheets to track the progress and sales we have made. I believe IS101 will be a big help in the future!
    * What makes me stand out from other holders of the Microsoft Office Specialist certifications is my ability to want to always learn more. My goal is to learn as much as I can about Microsoft and use it in the world of business. The ability to want to learn is what makes me special.
    * Although I'm sure there are other students who put a lot of work into Mr. Wu's class, I feel that I take advantage of the help that is offered. Mr. Wu wants to help his students but not everyone chooses to take that help. What makes me stand out is that I do Webex meetings weekly and always try to meet the standards and more in IS101.

Overall, I thought the video on Joanna cloning herself with AI was very interesting. Usually, it's hard to pay attention to videos like this, but this one caught my eye. Although only a few of the AI tasks worked for Joanna, I definitely see it working for more tasks in the future. I would say that AI is our future, I'm just not quite sure if that is a good or bad thing.

  5. 1. The blogs that have been required to be published.
    2. By elevating final work products in my career using the tools, tips and tricks that I have learned in this class.
    3. Everyone who successfully completes this course will be equipped with the same knowledge and opportunity to apply the skills we learned to our personal and professional lives. As such, I don’t think there is a distinguishment to be made.
    4. I am not certified as a specialist, so I can’t say that I would compare myself to these individuals and their mastery of these programs.
    5. My resiliency and ability to remain positive and optimistic regardless of negative outside influences.

It is so surprising to see how far the world of A.I. has come. The avatar piece, reminds me of recent A.I. headshot software that has been trending over social media the last few months. I personally have used this and was so surprised with how all of the photos came out! It saved me so much time, money and effort in obtaining new professional headshots. I believe that this is one of the primary benefits that A.I. will provide to consumers as it continues to expand and grow. People look for convenience and more immediate gratification with products/services.

  6. 1) What I will leave behind once I complete the course with will be my blog that I created.

    2) How confidence and comfortable I become using a computer and navigating a computer.

    3) When I had a million reasons to give up and walk away, I chose to stay and fight but also I like to give Mr. Albert Wu credit for staying along side of me and fought along side of me. I never had that before in all the courses that I have taken so I am grateful for that.

    4) When I started this class, I barely had enough knowledge about Microsoft Office applications due to the job that I held prior. Now that I recently filled the Head Cashier position at my job, I am applying what I learned in this class to do my daily job at work.

    5) The things that make me stand out amongst other holders of the Microsoft Office Specialist certifications is that I am willing to learn and also willing to put the time and effort by staying behind when each class session ends.

The video that I watched was very interesting. I do want to use an AI avatar in my daily life. That will make things a lot easier for me and my family just because I am a single mom trying to juggle everything all at once. But one thing I know is that I am hard to replace, just kidding. My question is this: as we learning to replace people with AI intelligence what does it mean for humanity? The one thing that distinguishes us human from animals or AI intelligence is the ability to show compassion to others at times of need. Is that not what sets apart from the rest of everything? The one thing that also worries me is the use of voice recognition system to access bank account. Now it's a good thing but what if someone has a recording of my voice? This means they can call my bank and access my account?

  7. 1)Although I do like the interface, I don’t see a reason to keep a blog. However, it is an excellent way for someone to express their thoughts. It can work almost like a public diary. Kudos to whomever finds use for it.
2)Through my certifications, skills, and blog posts I can definitely show what I have learned from IS101-3003.
3)After gaining hold of the Word and Excel certifications, I’m sure I’d be great at explaining the ins and outs of how they work. The goal, I believe, is to be able to teach someone else to be more computer-literate.
4)I feel I can show our professor that even as busy and imperfect a human being can be, if they truly want to succeed they will. No matter the circumstances, giving it your all can really make you stand out.

The video on AI was truly eye-opening. AI has infiltrated nearly every field in the modern age of technology. We are getting closer and closer to reaching a reality of simulating the human experience, possibly even the universe. With the AI technology out today, you can essentially create your own Sim’s character with your voice and your look. Every day the technology is improved upon, and once it is seamless I do think we are headed into a simulation based future. Scarier the more you think.

  8. 1. Something I will leave behind when I finish IS101-3003 is my blog. Although I enjoyed learning how to create and customize it to my style, it won't be useful to me after completing the course.

    2. Studying business administration, I'll encounter subjects where Excel is necessary. What I've learned will be valuable when teachers assign tasks and in my future job within my field of study.

    3. One thing that sets me apart is starting IS101-3003 with English as a second language. Initially, I had to translate all my assignments and lab videos, which was extra work. Gradually, I adapted, making it easier to complete tasks.

    4. These certifications will enhance my career and resume. Excel knowledge is crucial for business students, making it highly efficient for me.

    5. What distinguishes me from other Albert Wu students is the unique process I went through to understand the classes. Albert helped me by communicating and patiently explaining, despite language challenges. His ongoing support taught me perseverance, and everything learned in the course will benefit my future work.

I found it a super interesting video since I had no idea what we could easily do today. I was very surprised when she said that it wasn't really her but an AI avatar speaking.
